Michael Jordan is relentless in his Patrick Ewing trash talk - New York Post

Michael Jordan began torturing Patrick Ewing nearly three decades ago. Predictably, the six-time NBA champion hasn’t stopped.

The Hall of Fame center first lost to Jordan in the 1982 national championship game, when the North Carolina freshman hit the game-winning shot. Then, Ewing was eliminated from the playoffs by Chicago on five occasions. In 1989, the second-seeded Knicks lost to the sixth-seeded Bulls. In 1992, the Knicks took the defending champs to seven games, but got blown out in the deciding contest, In 1993, the Knicks had the best record in the East, but blew a 2-0 lead in the conference finals.

Only after Jordan’s first retirement could Ewing and the Knicks overcome the Bulls in seven games in the 1994 Eastern Conference semifinals.

Largely because of Jordan, Ewing is remembered as one of the greatest players to never win a title. So, yes, the 7-footer can envision how different his career and legacy would have ended had his prime not aligned with the greatest player of all-time.

“I played 17 years, and like you said, six years we played against the Bulls six times,” Ewing said on ESPN’s “The Jump.” “We were only able to win one of those times, and unfortunately, he wasn’t there. So, he’s been talking trash from the first day that I met him, and he still continues to talk trash, telling me that I have never beaten him when it counts.”
