AFC North Recap: Steelers make a statement to the division in Week 8 - Behind the Steel Curtain

sumantotos.blogspot.com

The eighth week of NFL football is behind us, and it was quite the week in the AFC North division. With that said, it is time to see how the Baltimore Ravens, Pittsburgh Steelers, Cincinnati Bengals and Cleveland Browns all did in the week that was.

Time to take a look...

Cincinnati Bengals - 31
Tennessee Titans - 20

In what might be the shocker of the week, Joe Burrow and the Cincinnati Bengals handed the Tennessee Titans their second straight loss. The once undefeated Titans have now dropped back-to-back games against the Steelers and Bengals. A huge win for the Bengals heading into their bye week, and some validation for Burrow and company considering they have been so close to winning throughout the course of the regular season. Their first meeting with the Steelers will be coming up for them after their bye week.

Las Vegas Raiders - 16
Cleveland Browns - 6

Playing in Cleveland isn’t easy, and I am talking about the weather. With the wind howling it was difficult conditions for both teams by Lake Eerie. Nonetheless, it was the Raiders who made enough plays to leave the state of Ohio victorious. The loss was a tough one for Browns fans to swallow as they could have made some ground in the division with a victory. Instead, they enter their bye week having to chew on this poor performance. Games against the Texans and Eagles coming off their bye will likely have Cleveland relevant for the coming weeks.

Pittsburgh Steelers - 28
Baltimore Ravens - 24

The Steelers’ win wasn’t perfect. Far from it, but this team just finds a way to win games. It seems every week they are challenged in a different way, and every week they seemingly respond. If you think about how they have won so far this season, they have had a dominant performance (vs. Cleveland), won in a shoot out (vs. Philadelphia), won on big defensive plays (vs. Denver and New York Giants), and you can now cross the comeback win off their to-do list. The Steelers are a team to be reckoned with, and while no one is prediction a 16-0 season, they remain perfect heading into a Week 9 game in Dallas vs. the Cowboys. As for the Ravens? They now have a two game hole to dig themselves out of, and it doesn’t get easier with a trip to play the 5-2 Colts next week.

Pittsburgh Steelers - 7-0-0
Baltimore Ravens - 5-2-0
Cleveland Browns - 5-3-0
Cincinnati Bengals - 2-5-1
