Carson Wentz finally broke his silence.
We previously hadn’t heard directly from the now-former Eagles quarterback (aside from a Twitter ad) since his postgame press conference after getting benched for Jalen Hurts in Week 13. That was back on December 6.
On Friday evening, more than 24 hours after news broke of him being traded to the Indianapolis Colts, Wentz used his official Instagram account to say goodbye to Philadelphia.
As expected, nothing particularly juicy here. No notable omissions, no explanations as to why he wanted out. Pretty standard professional athlete farewell message.
Here’s the Bible verse Wentz referenced if you were curious:
Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.
Miles Sanders, Dallas Goedert, Avonte Maddox, Boston Scott, Nathan Gerry, and Kamu Grugier-Hill were among former teammates who commented on his post.
Wentz already seems to be pretty happy about joining the Colts.
The #Colts players are fired up to have Carson Wentz as their QB. Whether it's Kenny Moore reaching out to him yesterday or Wentz himself reaching out to players like Julian Blackmon today, they're ready to get to work.
