Texas A&M head coach Jimbo Fisher has had two signing day press conferences for his 2021 recruiting class, one for the early signing period in December and then another today for the late and more traditional first Wednesday in February. However, Fisher wasn't able to talk about his complete class today since he's waiting on other potential additions to the fold just like he wasn't able to discuss all of the December signees at that particular point in time due to the fact that the Aggies were playing a waiting game then as well with some potential targets.
This meant that Fisher was unable to talk about one of the highest rated signees in the 2021 class in Katy Taylor offensive lineman Bryce Foster. The four star prospect was ranked as the 65th best player in the country and one of the top five rated guards nationally in this year's crop of interior linemen and may well provide instant help given his ridiculous 6-foot-5, 330 pound frame. Today, with Foster in the fold, he was able to give the same attention to him that he did the group as a whole nearly two months ago.
"Just an outstanding young man" said Fisher. "I think the sky's the limit for him. He's very gifted, very huge."
Foster's mass tends to catch everyone's attention but Fisher also raved about his athleticism as evidenced by the fact that will compete in two sports in Aggieland (Fisher noted that Foster will throw the shot and discus for the Aggies' track and field program as well as play football).
"Everybody thinks how big and strong he is but what you don't realize the athleticism and the lower body flexibility he has, the power he has" said Fisher. "It creates the power, not just the upper body. That's why he's such a great discus thrower and why he's such a great shot put thrower. He can create power from low to high which is the way that football is played."
Finally, Foster isn't just a big, athletic body and he also didn't just rely on his natural ability to get him to where is one of the most highly regarded prospects in the country and someone who could potential see playing time as a true freshman. Fisher noted that Foster also has the work ethic to go along with his physical prowess which should serve him well not just early on in his career but on down the line as well.
"He likes to work" said Fisher. "He likes the grind of playing as I say. A lot of guys like to play ball but then do they like to go lift weights and like to go run and like to do all of that stuff. Bryce is one of those guys that really does and I think he has a tremendous future."
