The Zags, trying to pull off the first undefeated season in men’s college basketball since the 1975-76 Indiana Hoosiers, received nine out of 16 votes from our staff after the reveal Sunday of the 2021 NCAA Tournament bracket.

But Illinois, which won the Big Ten title game just before the selection show, got five votes, and Baylor — which was undefeated along with Gonzaga for most of this season — was the choice of two respondents.
