Jessica Eye took a tough loss on Saturday in the UFC on ESPN 10 main event against Cynthia Calvillo.

The unanimous decision defeat, which came in a women’s flyweight headliner at UFC Apex in Las Vegas, wasn’t incredibly lopsided against Eye (15-8 MMA, 5-7 UFC), nor was there an inordinate amount of damage inflicted on her by Calvillo (9-1-1 MMA, 6-1-1 UFC) over the course of five rounds.

The optics of it all don’t paint a particularly kind picture to Eye, though. She missed weight and showed a lack of remorse for doing so, then proceeded to lose to a smaller opponent who was moving up from strawweight and not even ranked in her division.

It wasn’t a good night for Eye, and she’s now 1-1 since her unsuccessful UFC title bid against Valentina Shevchenko at UFC 238 in June 2019, but came in overweight for both contests.
