Tim Tebow calls Ole Miss ‘best offense in country;’ Stephen A. Smith said Rebels ‘will feel wrath of Tide’ - AL.com

The last three Heisman Trophy-winning quarterbacks to come out of the SEC had something in common other than winning the prestigious trophy.

They all went on the road to beat Alabama. The names Cam Newton (Auburn), Johnny Manziel (Texas A&M) and Joe Burrow (LSU) don’t exactly bring tears of joy the fans of the Crimson Tide.

That SEC nugget brought to you by SEC Network analyst and former Heisman Trophy winner Tim Tebow on Friday when he joined Stephen A. Smith on “First Take.”

Enter Matt Corral, who will lead his No. 12 Ole Miss Rebels into Tuscaloosa for a 2:30 p.m. Saturday kick on CBS. The game will be live streamed on Paramount+ and fuboTV.

“Every single one of them went on the road to beat Alabama,” Tebow said. “That kind of put that notch in their Heisman belt.

“Could Matt Corral do the same? He’s the best player in college football.”

The reason, Tebow contends, is he makes plays with his arm and legs within a scheme of “best offense in the country,” but also has the ability to freelance.”

Smith admits Corral is legit but isn’t buying what Tebow is selling. In fact, the Rebels are 0-13 against opponents ranked No. 1.

“We talkin’ Alabama,” Smith said. Them damn Florida Gators surprised me, OK? They surprised Alabama. Alabama ain’t gonna find themselves in that situation again. They gonna get it together. ...

“Matt Corral, this brother can play now. He’s something special, but it don’t matter because they coming to the Tide, baby.

“The fact that Florida almost beat them a couple of weeks ago, I think Nick Saban has appropriately made life a living hell for them over the past couple of weeks. I think Ole Miss will feel the wrath of the Tide. This is all I have to say to close out the discussion, Roll Tide.”

Smith added, “It’s not gonna be that close this time.” Check out the full exchange below.
