Notes: NFLPA releases COVID-19 data, announces 72 players tested positive - prideofdetroit.com

We are now under two weeks away from the (current) start of training camp. For some teams, rookies are scheduled to report as early as this Saturday. With that in mind, the NFL Players Association released a bunch of data about the COVID-19 outbreak both across the United States and within the league itself.

According to the report, which you can view here, 72 NFL players have tested positive for the coronavirus as of July 10.

The website also offers state-by-state tracking, resources and information for players and a reminder that their medical advice is to forego any independent practices with other players.

As for how it relates to the Detroit Lions and Michigan, this graph shows how Michigan is currently doing much better than in other parts of the country:

As far as how Allen Park (where the Lions facility is) and Detroit are doing, they have that data, too:

Despite all this data, it still sounds like the NFL and NFLPA are not quite on the same page as each other. JJ Watt tweeted a scathing statement on Thursday, noting that the players still “have not received a single valid IDER plan (Infections Disease Emergency Response).” They have no idea if preseason games will be played. They don’t know if they’ll be tested daily, or semi-daily, nor how a positive test would impact their current contracts.

There’s a lot still up in the air, and time is running out.
