Week 13 of the 2020 NFL season is already here, kicking off with a 12-game Sunday slate. Now being this far into the season, we have enough of a sample size to accurately predict and project the best wide receiver and cornerback matchups to target in DFS and fantasy football leagues.
After getting a chance to analyze usage rates and crunch the numbers, I’ve identified the most and least desirable matchups to target at the wide receiver and cornerback positions in Week 13.
5 WR/CB Matchups to Target
Jacksonville Jaguars WR Laviska Shenault Jr. vs. Minnesota Vikings CB Cameron Dantzler
The Jaguars aren’t typically a passing offense worth targeting, but this matchup could prove to be fairly one-sided when these two rookies square off in Week 13. Among Jaguars receivers, Shenault ranks third in fantasy points and fourth in targets. While his average depth of target (5.44 yards) isn’t enticing, his ability to create yardage after the catch is — he ranks first in the receiver room with his 6.15 yards after the catch per reception.
The opposing side of the matchup features a struggling cornerback in Dantzler, who currently allows the second-most fantasy points per route to opposing wide receivers (0.44), per PFF’s WR and CB matchup chart. Dantzler also ranks highly in touchdowns surrendered with his four scores ceded (tied for ninth) this season.
Houston Texans WR Brandin Cooks vs. Indianapolis Colts CB Rock Ya-Sin
This season could not have been stranger for Cooks. During the first four weeks, he was seldomly used and looked like a complete afterthought. From Bill O’Brien’s firing onward, Cooks ranks first on the Texans’ roster in targets (55) and receptions (42), slotting in as a legitimate WR1 (WR12) among all receivers in the NFL. Luckily for Cooks, his target share is about to skyrocket due to Will Fuller V‘s suspension.
