Anybody left disappointed by not finding a PlayStation 5 under the Christmas tree can find solace in the knowledge plenty of people across the U.S. found themselves in the same circumstances.
Since its release in November, the next-generation Sony console has proved an enormous success and its popularity has seen retailers scrambling to restock shelves in order to meet the surge in demand. Despite retailers' best efforts, however, a large number of gamers have been left empty-handed with both the regular PS5, priced at $499, and the PS5 Digital Edition, priced at $399, selling out rapidly.
The nature of the console's release has made life harder for those hoping to get their hands on the PS5, as bots and scalpers have sought to purchase the consoles online, before reselling them at eye-watering prices on third-party websites.
The good news is that Sony confirmed more stocks is heading towards retailers and encouraged customers to keep their eyes peeled for the latest stock drop.
"Demand for PS5 is unprecedented, so we wanted to confirm that more PS5 inventory will be coming to retailers before the end of the year—please stay in touch with your local retailers," the tech giant said in a statement last week.
Here's a breakdown of the latest PS5 restock information from Target, Best Buy, Walmart, Newegg, PopFindr, BrickSeek and more.
Target PS5 Restock
Target's PS5 availability varies by store, and it is not currently marked as sold out on the Target website. Availability for the local stores can be checked on Target.com or via inventory checkers like BrickSeek and PopFindr.
According to gaming website Spiel Times, a limited number of consoles should hit the shelves at Target stores between Sunday, December 27 and Tuesday, December 29.
It's worth noting, however, that the PS5 is only available online at Target, with drive-up or order pick-up once it has been successfully ordered online. Additionally, there is a limit of one console per customer.
Walmart PS5 Restock
Walmart is currently out of stock and not taking backorders for the console. While PS5 games and accessories are available on Walmart's website, the console isn't listed as available.
"We have more next-gen consoles coming online soon, and we're continuing to work hard to get them into the hands of as many customers as possible," the retailer said in a statement on December 15.
Newegg PS5 Restock
Newegg announced a PS5 restock via Twitter last week, releasing the latest batch of consoles at 8 p.m. ET on December 22. As of December 26, however, the retailer announced it was again out of stock, but customers should monitor the website for updates.
Best Buy PS5 Restock
Best Buy restocked its PS5 supplies less than a week ago, but the console has since sold out again. On the retailer's website, both the regular PS5 and the PS5 Digital Edition are listed as sold out.
Antonline PS5 Restock
Antonline released a limited number of consoles last week, but it has since confirmed it will no longer be announcing new stock drops. The PS5 is listed as sold out on its website at the time of writing.
Costco PS5 Restock
Consoles are sold out at Costco. As is the case for Target, the PS5 is only available online at Target and there is a limit of one console per customer. As yet, there are no updates on the next restock.
PopFindr PS5 and BrickSeek PS5 Inventory Checkers
Inventory checkers like PopFindr and BrickSeek allow shoppers to see which Walmart, Target, Best Buy, and GameStop stores have PS5s in stock.
Some stores, however, have begun blocking both websites.
