MLB commissioner Rob Manfred responds to the enforcement on sticky substances: 'The first two days have gone... - The Athletic

Major League Baseball is two days into its midseason decision to enforce Rule 6.02, which states that pitchers found applying any foreign substances to balls will be ejected and suspended. After a fairly mundane Monday, the first full slate of games on Tuesday created some drama. Most notably as Nationals starter Max Scherzer, after going through his two inspections, became visibly upset on the mound when Phillies manager Joe Girardi requested another mid-inning check. While Scherzer was found clean, Girardi was later ejected for storming toward the opposing dugout and chirping with several Nationals coaches.

Hundreds of other checks went off without a hitch.
