New Detroit Lions EDGE Everson Griffen is known for being an intense competitor and that fire came through in a statement he released for Lions’ fans via Twitter on Tuesday night.

While the move has yet to become official — as the trade was not processed before yesterday’s transaction deadline — but the Dallas Cowboys announced the move publicly and Griffen followed that up with his own statements.

“This year has been a journey for my family,” Griffen said. “I was so blessed to be able to spend this time with the Dallas Cowboys. I want to thank the Jones family and Coach McCarthy for the opportunity.”

Then, Griffen turned his attention to Detroit, and turned up the intensity:

While Griffen won’t be eligible to play this week due to COVID-19 rules, he says he will join the Lions tomorrow and will reunite with former Minnesota Vikings Adrian Peterson and Jayron Kearse, both of who joined the Lions this offseason.

He will be eligible to play in Week 9 — against the Vikings.
