Mets fans aren’t the only ones ready to see the Wilpons leave Queens.
As Steve Cohen received the necessary votes to be approved as the new Mets owner, pitcher Noah Syndergaard told The Post’s Mike Puma that he hopes the hedge-fund billionaire’s treatment of players and team staff clears the low bar set by the former longtime owners.
“All I plead is that the new owner treats players and personnel in the organization like people and less like expendable commodities,” Syndergaard said. “That being said, I couldn’t be more excited having the real life Bobby Axelrod leading the charge.”
Syndergaard, who debuted with the Mets in 2015, missed all of this past season while recovering from Tommy John surgery, and is expected to return during the 2021 season.
