Jalen Ramsey and Golden Tate brought their family feud to the field.
Ramsey and Tate reportedly threw punches and started a postgame brawl Sunday between the Giants and Rams that escalated to include dozens of players and coaches on both sides pushing and shoving to break free from the mess.
The only surprising thing is that it took that long to develop, especially after Ramsey lifted Tate off his feet and drove him into the turf on a clean tackle during the second half of the Rams’ 17-9 victory.
Ramsey is the father of two of Tate’s young nieces but broke off a long-term relationship with Tate’s sister Breanna while she was pregnant last summer. When Ramsey posted to social media a photo with his new girlfriend last October, Tate made it publicly known he was circling their next head-to-head matchup.
Tate was not available to The Post upon request earlier this week and Ramsey declined comment on Tate, but there was no avoiding each other when face-to-face. Tate again was not available upon request after the game.
“I have to see and find out all the details right there,” Giants coach Joe Judge said immediately after the game. “I don’t have anything there yet. Obviously we want to do our fighting between the whistles for 60 minutes. I don’t know all the details, so I’m going to reserve comment on that until I find out everything.”
But Tate’s feelings are no secret because he told The Post last October: “I’m not happy at all with the disrespect that he’s shown towards my sister, and the things he’s done in the past.”
Ramsey is regarded as one of the NFL’s premier trash-talkers and Tate as one of its biggest showboats, so the recipe for ugliness was pre-cooked. The FOX broadcast went to commercial before the fight and returned with footage of other players mixing it up but not Ramsey or Tate.
Ramsey was still dressed in full uniform and was the last player to leave the field, pacing as if to cool off.
Judge would not say whether he addressed the Tate-Ramsey tensions with his star receiver before the game.
“Golden is a competitive guy,” Judge said. “We talk to all of our players every week about different things. I’ll keep some of our conversations just between me and the players. We don’t want to have happen what happened at the end of the game. That’s not the way we want to be as a team.”
Giants linebacker Blake Martinez and cornerback James Bradberry both deferred comment on the brawl to Judge.
