Jakarta: The Industry Ministry is committed to improve its performance in order to increase the contribution of manufacturing sector to Indonesian economy.
"Manufacturing sector is the backbone of our national economy," Industry Minister Airlangga Hartarto said in a written statement received by Medcom.id.
According to the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), Indonesian economy grew by 5.17 percent in 2018. It was Indonesia's highest annual growth in five years.In addition to that, Indonesian economy grew by 5.18 percent in the fourth quarter of 2018. It was slightly stronger than earlier expectations.
"Machinery industry grew by 9.49 percent. Leather industry grew by 9.42 percent," he said.
"Basic metal industry grew by 8.99 percent. Textile industry grew by 8.7 percent," he said.
