Jakarta: The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) summoned Youth and Sports Ministry Inspector General Pangestu Adi as a witness in an alleged bribery case related to a grant from the ministry to the National Sports Committee (KONI) in the 2018 fiscal year.
There are currently five suspects in the case. They are Youth and Sports Ministry deputy Mulyana, Youth and Sports Ministry commitment making officer Adi Purnomo, Youth and Sports Ministry administrative staff Eko Triyono, KONI secretary general Ending Fuad Hamidy and KONI treasurer Jhonny E Awuy.
"He was summoned as a witness for suspect EFH," KPK spokesperson Febri Diansyah said here on Tuesday.KPK investigators arrested the five suspects during a sting operation in mid-December. The investigators probed Youth and Sports Minister Imam Nahrawi as a witness last month.
Last year, Adi and Eko allegedly received Rp318 million from Ending and Awuy. In the meantime, Mulyana allegedly received Rp300 million as well as a number of luxurious items from the KONI officials.
KONI is responsible on sport development as well as organizing national sporting events. Its biggest event is the National Sports Week (PON) that is held every four years.
