Public Urged to Use Their Right to Vote

Jakarta: President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo has reiterated that every eligible person should use their right to vote in the 2019 simultaneous general and presidential elections.

"Your vote would decide the future of this country," President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo said here on Thursday.

Indonesia will hold the first ever simultaneous general and presidential elections in April 17. Voters will elect the president and lawmakers on the same day.

In order to run for presidency, the incumbent is endorsed by PDIP, Golkar Party, PKB, PPP, NasDem Party, Hanura Party, PKPI, PBB, Perindo Party and PSI. On the other hand, key opposition leader Prabowo Subianto is supporrted by Gerindra Party, Democratic Party, PAN, PKS and Berkarya Party.

The first presidential debate took place at Bidakara Hotel in South Jakarta in mid-January. Candidates discussed about law, human rights, corruption and terrorism.

The second presidential debate will take place at Sultan Hotel in Central Jakarta on February 17. The questions will focus on infrastructure, natural resources, environment, agriculture and energy.
