Jakarta: Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan has revealed that aviation giant Airbus is planning to build a maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) facility in Indonesia.
"They will come back in April. They will explain in more detail," the former presidential chief of staff said here on Monday.
"We also urged them to cooperate with PT Dirgantara Indonesia. We recommended them to produce a number of components in Indonesia," the retired general added.According to the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM), domestic and foreign direct investment realization in Indonesia only reached Rp721.3 trillion in 2018. It only grew by 4.1 percent compared to the previous year.
In addition to that, foreign direct investment realization in Indonesia only reached Rp328.6 trillion last year. It declined by 8.8 percent compared to the previous year.
"Last year's investment realization was slightly below the target," BKPM head Thomas Lembong told a press conference last week.
